1. Preparation Phase
Before starting the coil wrapping machine, ensure that both the power and air supply are properly connected to support normal operation. Check the machine and the surrounding area to ensure everything is clean and free from any clutter or debris. This step is crucial to prevent any operational malfunctions or accidents.
2. Installing Packaging Materials
Load the necessary packaging materials such as paper, stretch film, or polyethylene (PE) onto the machine. It is important to choose materials that are appropriate for the type and size of the coil that needs to be wrapped. Verify that the materials are correctly positioned and secured to avoid slippage during the wrapping process.
3. Setting Packaging Parameters
Set the packaging parameters on the machine, which include the Inner Diameter (ID), Outer Diameter (OD), and Width of the coil. These parameters must be adjusted according to the specific requirements of the coil to ensure that the wrapping is performed accurately and effectively. Proper settings help in achieving optimal protection and stability of the wrapped product.
4. Adjusting Machine Settings
Adjust the machine settings by properly positioning the guard rollers, turning ring, and adjusting the height of the large plate to ensure sufficient space for loading materials. These adjustments are crucial to accommodate various sizes and types of coils, ensuring that the machine operates smoothly and efficiently. Carefully check that all components are securely locked in place to prevent any shifts during operation.
5. Loading Operation
Load the coil onto the machine and adjust the guard rollers to prevent the coil from tipping over. Then, adjust the turning ring so that it passes through the center of the coil. These steps are essential to stabilize the coil and ensure that the wrapping materials can be applied evenly and securely around the entire surface of the coil.
6. Starting the Wrapping Process
If the machine is equipped with an automatic packing material feeding mechanism, allow it to automatically load the wrapping bands. Once the materials are in place, initiate the automatic wrapping program. This process involves the machine wrapping the coil with the selected materials, tightly and consistently, to ensure protection and stability during handling and transport.
7. Adjusting Machine Settings
Ensure that all machine settings are correctly adjusted to accommodate the specific requirements of the coil being wrapped. This includes setting the guard rollers, turning ring, and large plate to the appropriate positions and heights. These adjustments are crucial for ensuring the machine can operate smoothly and that the coil is securely held in place throughout the wrapping process.
8. Cutting the Wrapping Band
Once the wrapping process is complete, the machine will automatically cut the wrapping band to the appropriate length by PLC program. This step is critical to ensure that the band is neither too short, which could compromise the stability of the package, nor too long, which could waste material. The cutting mechanism should be checked regularly to ensure it is sharp and functioning properly.
9. Unloading the Coil
To unload the coil, first open the guard rollers to release the wrapped coil. Carefully remove the coil from the machine, ensuring not to disturb the integrity of the wrap. This step should be performed with caution to avoid any damage to the coil or injury to the operator. Proper handling during unloading ensures the coil remains securely packaged for storage or transport.
